This is a very nice hollow bluebill by Cliff Powers of Stillwater, Minnesota. The early Minnesota decoy appears to have started life out as a hen bluebill and then saw hunting use as a drake bluebill. Considerable amounts of Mr. Powers signature greenish hen bluebill paint are visible under traces of the old working black overpaint. The decoy has glass eyes and head bill separation carving. The underside of this decoy is hollowed out and it is probable that this decoy once was fitted with a bottom board. More information on Cliff Powers decoys can be found on page 169 of Doug Lodermeiers book 'Minnesota Duck Decoys'. The decoy is approximately 12" long, 4 3/4" tall and 5" wide. Don't miss out on your chance to own this nice early Minnesota decoy. Please check out my other auctions including many other great Minnesota decoys in the next few weeks.
