This auction is for a Vintage Coca Cola Vendo Vending Machine Model A23E. Manufactured January 1958 by the Vendo Company in Kansas City, Missouri. This machine originally sold Coca Cola bottles for .10 cents each. You would insert your coins into the coin slot located at the top left side of the machine. Change was dispenced from the Change Slot located on the front left side of the machine. Next, you would turn the knob to activate the coin slot. Once activated, access to a bottle of Coca Cola became available by lifting a small metal door also located at the top of this machine. Unfortunately, this machine is missing that small metal door. In the 50'S "twist off" caps were not yet invented, however bottles could be opened by using a Bottle Opener, located on the front of right side of this machine in the Bottle Opener Area. This machine is known as the "Red Top" because of it's red top and also is referred to as the "Spin Top". The vending top on this machine was one of the first single serving vending apparatuses made. For loading purposes, the top of this machine lifts up and locks into an open position, revealing 23 individual chambers that spun around. Thus, giving the nickname "Spin Top". Each chamber held an individual Coca Cola bottle. Coca Cola bottles could even be stored in the Bottle Storage Area located on the lower front of this machine through a pull out door. This is w a wooden case full of Coca Cola bottles would be stored as back up inventory. Specs on this Vintage Coca Cola Vendo Vending Machine are: *Model A23E. *Serial No. A80193119, *VK2 Refrigeration Unit. *900 B.T.U. *1/8 H.P. *115 Volts. *2.4 Amps. This is an old vintage machine with obvious signs of aging and is auctioned as is. This machine measures approximately, 36" x 24" x 20" and weighs approximately, 150 lbs.
