hi, i've got a nice collectible vintage large fiesta ware bowl. it is in the "uranium fiesta red" color (really more of an amazingly iridescent orange/red). according to my research (it's amazing what you can find on the internet), fiesta red has always been the most popular color even though it was the most expensive. the higher price was due to the cost of the raw materials and the fact that the production of the red required a greater level of control during the firing process. the red color was achieved by adding uranium oxide in the glaze. this color was discontinued when all uranium and uranium bi-products were diverted to the war effort. in fact, the US gov't confiscated the company's stock of uranium and the original fiesta red bowls disappeared from the market. it is marked "Fiesta/made in USA" and has a 7 on the bottom. it has the rings on the inside and outside of the bowl; around the top it is flat, and it measures about 7 1/4" high and about 11" across the top. this is an extremely nice conditioned bowl; the complete outside of the bowl is in near-perfect shape; no scratches, etc., possibly 1 or 2 of the absolute tiniest of miniscule "smudges" or something (but possibly not). the only visible flaw in this bowl is on the inside, at the bottom, w part of the bottom/inner rings have over time taken on a dark smudgy quality over time (see photo 3), and, and this is probably normal, under the bowl, the part that supports the bowl, shows a little wear around the lower support rim, just from normal use and supporting the weight of the bowl. but all in all, looking at this bowl, it is quite striking. i have noticed similar bowls selling on ebay for $300-$400, and this bowl is particularly exquisite in its color and luminescence and lack of surface defects/scratches/etc. good luck bidders; come and get yourself a great bowl at a good price! shipping is $10 (domestic). PLEASE CHECK MY FEEDBACK; IT'S ALL ULTRA SUPER POSITIVE. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED OR YOUR MONEY BACK. if you need more info, (or better/different pictures?), feel free to ask. re payment, i prefer paypal, but will consider other payment options. international bidders: postage can very expensive; so make sure you have an idea what it might cost). thanks
