You are bidding on a vintage Lockheed Super Constellation model in near-mint condition, circa late 1940s - early1950s. This one-peice cast aluminum aircraft in Eastern Airlines livery would have been used as a sales tool, either in a travel agency or an executive office. Of the many large scale metal aircraft models we've owned and sold, this easily ranks up t as one of the nicest - only a few very minor nicks in the paint and decals as pictured. The original cast-iron stand completes this amazing model. This type of model was never designed to have any props or plastic discs, and creates the illusion of of spinning props in flight. Originally from the estate of Charles Martignette (an easy Google search), who was a well known collector and author - a great pedigree for this piece. The fuselage is 27.5", the wingspan 29.5", and the stand is about 8" high. It is doubtful this Constellation was ever in direct sunlight, or even displayed much at the time. BONUS ITEM: Included are Eastern Airlines plane tickets, complete with folder depicting a similar plane on the cover, same paint scheme, from Orlando to New York round trip in 1954. A tough one to part with, this will make a museum quality addition and centerpiece to any aviation or airline collection....... INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: International customers need to contact us prior to bidding, since we generally do not ship outside the USA, but will consider doing so with prior notice. We can give you a rough idea of shipping costs and delivery options, but will not know specifically until an item is packaged after an auction ends, which we will then add to your invoice.
