For your consideration is this vintage 15 piece, ¼” drive socket set in its original metal box. This set includes a 5-1/2” flex-head handle with a separate 3” cross-bar that goes through the hole in its knurled handle. There is a 4-1/2” sliding Tee handle, with both 3” and 6” extensions. There are 10 sockets, and the sizes are 3/16, 7/32, 1/4, 9/32, 5/16, 11/32, 3/8, and 7/16, all 6 point sockets, plus a 1/4 and 5/16 with 8 points. The box is about 7-1/16” long, 3-1/8” wide, and 1-1/8” deep, and it is marked “Guaranteed Highest Quality CRAFTSMAN REGISTERED U.S. PAT. OFF.” on the lid. All of the tools are marked with the H-circle logo. The H-circle line of Craftsman tools was introduced in the late 1930’s and manufactured by the New Britain Machine Company. All but the 3/16 socket are marked with the Craftsman double-line logo. The 3/16 socket is marked with the older Craftsman underline logo. This 15 piece set showed up in the 1947 Sears catalog, and the double-line logo on the tools suggests production in the 1945 to 1947 range, which was around the end of model life for the H-circle line of tools that were replaced eventually by the Craftsman =V= series tools made by Moore Drop Forging Co.
