This listing is an A.T. Cross mechanical pencil which likely dates from the mid-20 Century, if not earlier. As seen in Scan #1, the pencil which is in like-new condition remains completely housed in its original presentation box. A sticker still attached at the bottom right corner of the presentation box insert reads " STERLING ". The overall measurement of the pencil is approximately 3 3/8" in length. The pencil's design feature and size suggest it was intended for use by a woman. Except for a thin black accent band, t he pencil is entirely metal and features a combined ribbed and chased design. The only marking on the entire pencil appears on the top of the metal tip just below the thin black band; it reads " AX T" followed by " STERLING " , and then "MADE IN USA ". As mentioned above, t he pencil is in like-new, perhaps unused condition with no evidence of abuse or damage. I have chosen not to polish the pencil, so clear evidence of tarnishing is noted. Lead is present and the mechanism by which to advance and withdraw the lead functions as designed . The presentation box, the underside of which is seen in Scan #2, exhibits very mild surface wear. A rub mark is present on the top cover; however, there is no evidence of paper loss. As well, the corner seams are intact with no splitting at those four sites or along any of the edges. read more
