Vintage Blue Calico Covered Tea Bag Holder Crownford (Burleighware, Burgess Dorling & Leigh, Ltd. at Middleport Pottery) Staffordshire, England Burleigh's Calico pattern is an English Staffordshire under-glaze transfer print decoration. A New York company first commissioned the pattern for distribution in the USA. This early Calico bears a backstamp "Crownford" (and not the Burleigh name yet). These pieces were produced at the Middleport Pottery. Stands 4 1/2" tall to top of lid when covered, just under 3" to top of rim when uncovered. Lid approx. 4 7/8" across. No chips, cracks or glaze crazing found. There is a tiny bit of roughness on nose of one face/handle. I have additional pieces of Blue Calico currently listed. Ships USPS Priority Mail. Wrapped and packed for fragile shipping.
