Up for bid is a vintage CSI-type police fingerprinting kit. It belonged to a retired private detective who used it in the 1940's. The black case measures 91/4 " x 6 " . x 10 1/2 ". It has a black handle on the top. The case has a few tiny drops of white paint from years of storage otherwise it is in excellent condition. It opens on the side to reveal three drawers that open with leather pulls. Included are three brushes marked SPADEA U.S.A. One brush also says 1/2. An old broken tube of ink says Spadea Investigators Fingerprinting Ink. A metal tool marked The General Hardware Manufacturing Co. New York, USA opens to reveal a sharp pointed end that was probably used when studying the completed prints. A pair of scissors are in a paper sleeve. A mat to use for the actual printing measures 9" x 3 7/8". A leather case marked with the words Genuine Top Grade Cowhide, Made in USA. contains a magnifying glass to study the prints. A rubber roller brayer is also included. Thirty unused Civil Fingerprint Cards are part of the kit. They have space to record personal information including scars and marks, emergency contacts, and space for all fingerprints for right and left hands and any abnormalities, like amputations.
