Vintage D.E. McNicol Clarksburg, W.VA. Bluebird Platter Description : Vintage D. E. McNicol Clarksburg, W.VA. Bluebird Platter The oval platter offered in this auction has a bluebird pattern and is marked on the bottom D. E. McNicol. Clarksburg, W.VA. It is white glazed heavy stoneware type dinnerware and has 3 bluebirds on branches with pink blossoms on one side and 2 single bluebirds with pink blossom on the opposite side. The outer and inner edges of the rim have a blue band. The birds have their wings spread and are on the rim and down into the well.The platter is 1" high, has a 11 1/2" x 8 1/4" top oval, 7/8" wide rim, and 9" x 5 2/4" well oval.The platter has scratches, crazing, rubs to the blue band on the outer edge, and a very small chip on the underside edge near one end. The chip is not visible from the top and is barely visible from the bottom but can be felt. It has no cracks or discoloration in the crazing.The D. E. McNicol company operated in East Liverpool, Ohio, and Clarksburg, W. Va., into the 1950's.Check our other auctions for more dinnerware, glassware, china, and collectibles.
