Up for your consideration is a DAM Quick 331 in used/refurbished condition. My refurbished reels are completely disassembled; all parts are cleaned and then polished to bring them to original shine and smoothness. Polishing and re-lubrication will produce like new operation and feel to a quality reel. Any questionable parts are replaced with new old stock or refurbished parts from my collection. I have been collecting and restoring fishing reels for over 25 years and make sure that any reel that I refurbish is in “like new” condition. I charge $50.00 plus parts for this service so here is a chance to get an “like new” vintage reel for a bargain price. The only part of the reel that I do not restore is the finish. Painting vintage reels is not recommended by collectors and is nearly impossible to duplicate as most quality reels are anodized not painted. If I deem a reel worthy of refurbishing, I do my best to select reels with little “boat rash” or other surface defects. The pictures shown are of the actual reel that you are bidding on. About the reel; Dam Quick’s are among the best of the old school reels. The body is anodized aluminum. Under the hood you will find high quality brass and stainless steel gears, stainless ball bearings, all other parts are brass and stainless according to design needs. These reels hold up for years giving dependable service in both fresh and salt water. I live in Florida and still use these reels to bring in some of those infamous Indian River Lagoon redfish. I love the ability to set the reel to spin freely or utilize either locking the spin forward or backward, this is one of the most versatile reels ever made. The drag is smooth at any setting which is a major plus when fishing with the lighter 8-10 lb lines and hooking 30 lb fish! The 331 model is a medium size reel and is the high-speed version of the 330 model. Made in West Germany these reels were ahead of their time in both quality and design. Many fishing reel designers started out as watchmakers. I don’t know if Quick was originally a watch company, but their unique design and smooth operation reminds me of that kind of commitment to quality. Look at the pictures; I have included some of the reel completely broken down and also some before and after polishing of the plastic spool. In my opinion the spool is the weakest part of the Quick design. They made it rust proof but after 20-30 years of use they tend to “chalk” out, you will see this on almost all of the used reels on Ebay. I take extra time in bringing the finish back to a glossy smooth luster. Polishing the spool helps reduce line friction and provides longer, smoother casts. When I refurbish my reels I do it with the intent that the reel will be returned to a fishing environment. Whether you fish or collect, you will be happy with this reel, I guarantee it!! If for any reason you are not completely satisfied, you have 7 days to put it back in the box it was shipped in, pay the postage back to me and I will give you a full refund, no questions asked! Thanks for looking and good luck as always this will be a no reserve auction-starting bid .99 and postage will be economy ship to your location with no rip off postage or handling charges. Check back as I will be offering other refurbished reels as well as some that have been “general serviced” (reels that have been cleaned and re-lubricated-no polishing). 01/28/11 6:35 pm (Eastern) Correction to description; The reel is not anodized, I have been told that it is painted with an epoxy based paint. Sorry for the error! ndpond
