Welcome to Marie's Vintage Perfumes. This store is a collection of vintage perfume bottles from the estate of Marie-Louise Fredyma, my mother who passed away in 2010 after nearly 70 years in the antique business. Marie's perfumes were a special place in her collection of antiques and vintage items and are now offered for sale as part of her estate.

Description:

Vintage Dana Purse 4 Set Perfume and Advertisement 1948. Purse is gold on the outside and red on inside with gold holders for 4 bottles of perfume with original box. 4 Set Perfume consists of (1) Platine (1940), (2)Tabu (1930), (3)Emir (1935), and (4) 20 Carats (1933). Bottles have original labels and tags on each. Bottles have trace amount of original perfume in each bottle.

Advertisment is original ad for Dana Perfume in the Holiday/January edition 1948-49.

Background:

Dana was established in Barcelona in 1921 by Javier Serra (former director of Myrurgia of Spain). The company then moved to Paris in 1932 at 9 rue de la Paix. The company was named after the Greek goddess Danae and this idea was incoporated into the Dana logo, which consisted of a beautiful woman's head, taken from a sculpture by Mariano Andreu.

Dana perfume took over many other companies such as Corday, Helena Rubinstein, Cover Girl, Shulton, Max Factor, Houbigant and Jaclyn Smith perfumes. Dana bought out the rights to these companies and produced their perfumes, sometimes reformulating them and keeping the original well known names, you will recognize some of these below.

Condition:

Perfume Bottle is in excellent condition with no cracks, scratches, or chips. Gold purse set on top and bottom has some wear otherwise in very good condition for vintage item from 1940's. Labels on bottles are intact but have some age related wear but otherwise complete.
