This set was certainly hand formed. Both pieces have repousse hand formed abstract shell designs, as well as well as a folded rim to the midsection. The edges are beautifully beaded. The set has a subtle monogram âeoeMâe to the side of each piece. They very much have an Art Deco look, though they could be earlier, as the applied handle to the creamer has a more ornate design. T are small dings to the rim, which could be part of the hand-forming process. T are also dents, including a larger one to the creamer, and two to the side and rim of the sugar. Except for these three, the dings and dents are hard to spot because of the design. To the underside, is stamped âeoe STERLING 1863âe, and a âeoeWâe within a wreath. This is the makerâe(tm)s mark for Woodside Sterling Co. of New York, New York , extant 1896 âe" 1925, at which time it was acquired by Richard M. Woods & Co. Dimensions: Sugar 5 ¼âe X 4 ¼âe X 3 ¼âe; Cream 6âe (spout to handle) X 3âe X 2 ¼âe (height to spout). Despite the denting, which we believe could be pressed out, this is a very attractive and unusual set. We will be listing a number of sterling and silver plate items week.
