DeTrey's Synthetic Porcelain Dental Kit You are bidding on an antique DeTrey's synthetic porcelain dental kit circa 1910 - 1937. The DeTrey family had been involved in dentistry since 1868 but Emanuel DeTrey began researching almalgam filling materials in 1904 and eventually discovered silver almalgam. Later in 1910, the first silicate filling material, DeTrey Syntex, was developed in their Zurich laboratory. This kit measures 9-1/4" X 9-1/4" X 5-1/4". T is a bottom tray with separate compartments and the top hinges open w inside t are separate cut outs to hold the different bottles of porcelain enamel powders. The wooden box is in good condition and has no cracks, t are dovetail joints holding the piece together. The kit has a dark patina from age and also some minor scratches from use but is in good condition.T are 16 bottles included in the kit, each with an average size of 2-1/4" x 1", many are still unopened. The Smith's Certified enamel bottles have swastikas on them curiously enough, but are labeled from Mellon Institute of Industrial Research, Pittsburgh, U.S.A. (Smith and Son MFG.).
