DURALEX Glass Company "FRANCE 15" **MINT** 16 custard cups and 8 saucers ** MINT** THESE ARE VINTAGE*** Circa. 1930s - 1940s Description : These are my grandmother's and are MINT-NEVER USED- NEW (pick the word or words you like best). They are beautiful CLEAR *** AMBER color. No design, no etchings No Chips - No Use Marks (not even on the bottom - see pictures as they are part of the description), No Cracks - No " Flea Bites ", I cannot see anything wrong with them. (Please note my feedback and that I allow returns. See below.) T are 16 custard cups - ea. cup is 4 1/8" in diameter. T are 8 saucers - ea. saucer is 6 1/4" in diameter. I discovered these custard cups and saucers as I was unpacking dishes and setting the table for Thanksgiving. My mother moved in with me and had boxes upon boxes of dishes. I never saw these amber custard cups before and I am almost 50 yrs old. They were in dish keepers (cloth or plastic zippered container that holds various sizes of china, cuts, plates etc. with protective sheets between each ). They appear new . I know they have been stored out of the sun or any artificial light or even dust for a minimum of 40 yrs. See below . I personally inspected each cup and saucer. I took picutures to show the embossed markings on the bottom of each cup and saucer. It was hard to show. It says Duralex and then opposite it says France -- with a number following France -- it appeared to be a 5 until I found one that was very clear (see picture) it is France - 15 . I have no idea what this means. Please share any information that you have. I took the picture of the entire group, putting 8 custard cups on the 8 saucers and then putting the remaining 8 custard cups off to the side, and I thought it would be great to photograph them against white and the dark brown background. T is nothing wrong with any custard cup or saucer. They are all the same clear amber color . I took the pictures on the dining room table and t was a dark brown decrorative cloth in the center of the table and that is what is under some of them. The last picture is of the back of one of the custard cups and one of the saucers. All of them are in the same condition. Why I know these were purchased during the Depression in the 1930s - 1940s: These belonged to my grandmother and she had a LOT of "Depression Glass" (which I am listing as fast as I can -- some if it is currently listed). I initially thought this was more of the same, until I looked at the bottom. My grandmother was married in Feb. 1926. She and my grandfather were very fortunate to have a very good life and living during and afer the Depression. They entertained a lot, and my grandmother loved all of her china, glass, and serving dishes. She spent days setting the table for dinner parties and luncheons. She believed in having nice things and using them, but caring for them. Most of her dishes are pink or crystal (clear). Her china did not match this. I do not know why she had them, but I suspect it was a purchase or gift that "seemed like a good idea at the time" but she never used. I know I never saw it used in my 50 yrs of life. It does not match anything and that is why I believe they are in the great condition they are. My grandmother passed approx. 25 yrs ago and she stopped acquiring things in the 1960s and was downsizing constantly when I knew her which is another reason I know this is "vintage". For all of those reasons I am confident this set of custard cups and saucers are a minimum of 50 - 60+ years old. If you have any information on the "France 15" mark or manufacturing time period for this color I welcome any information and will add it to the listing.
