You are looking at a VINTAGE DIGBY PIPE made in London, England, c 1940?. This is a quality brier pipe with maker's name and location scribed on the bottom; with serial number 9489. The stem surround is rectangular and crafted of sterling silver. The dimensions are: 5 3/4 inches long x 1 7/8 inches bowl height x 1 3/8 inch bowl diameter. The brier color is dark brown with black in the reliefs, and the stem is polished black; all without cracks and very little wear on the stem mouth piece. Of course, any pipe smoker knows that a broken-in pipe is a shortcut to enjoyable smoking; the case , but without the heavy crust. This is a distinctive, gentleman's pipe with smart profile and refined textured brier; a great patina too. The stem fits tightly, and is easy to align because of the rectangular shape. Even though rugged in appearance, the weight is light and could comfortably be kept in the mouth longer without tiring the jaw; all depends on your habits of use.
