Gu ar an te ed b y C hr is tm as Circa 1900, this is simply the most amazingly beautiful and graphically detailed chromo lithographed advertising sign that you will ever see, by far! It dates to the turn of the century, it is huge at 24" by 19" , it is made of high gloss very thick cardboard and has two metal grommets at the top with it's original hanging string still attached. This very rare early original advertising sign is from " Greensmith's Derby Dog Biscuits, Manufactory Hilton Mills near Derby" which is in Northern England. The extraordinary lithography was done by R. Allen & Son Ltd Litho, Nottingham. Whether your interest is early advertising signs, vintage dog items, clown or circus imagery... this sign is a must have! It is simply the most beautiful, colorful and graphically detailed lithographed advertising sign that you will ever see. In thirty years of collecting, I've never seen a nicer sign. The imagery is fantastic with two circus clowns, one standing on a chair teaching three dogs how to jump through hoops and rewarding them with a Greensmith Derby Dog Biscuit. When it comes to early turn of the century advertising signs, this is simply as good as it gets. Condition... Please note that I do not have a great digital camera, the sign is far nicer, sharper and far more detailed in person. My camera cannot come close to showing the fine details of this amazing sign! The sign appears to have never been used and is in near mint condition. Though please keep in mind that it is approx 110 years old. There are two very small insignificant round indentations at the very bottom from the two small round metal grommets of another sign when it likely had been layed on top of this one. There is also a small indentation from the string, also from when another sign had likely been layed on top of this one. Other than that, essentially no wear whatsoever. Please scroll through the 12 photographs below...
