This is an original late 1800's or early 1900's doorstop which came out of the home of Dr. Fulton of Bristol, Rhode Island. This is made of cast iron. It weighs 5 pounds and is approximately 10 1/2" long by approximately 7 3/4" high by approximately 2 1/4 " in depth at the base.. The motif is a duck looking at a ladybug which is perched on a plant.T are a few flakes of missing paint and some crackling of paint. This is not a reproduction. It is old. It is being sold as found. T are no manufactures marks on the item. In the past I have been asked questions as to how one can tell an old doorstop from the new items coming out of China. The best way is to know the provenance.I know w this item was for at least the last 50 years. Another way to tell is based on the weight. Metal was fairly cheap when this was made, tfore the manufactures did not skimp on the use of medal. If anyone has any doubt as to the age, please do not bid. This will be a great addition to any collection.

This will be a great addition to any collection. January 7,2008..... I have had two inquiries during the last few days asking if the paint on this doorstop is original or re-touched.As I said in the original listing, "it is being sold as it was found".T is some green paint on the back. Was it like this when manufactured? I do not know the answer to that question. I do not know who manufactured the item nor do I know if it would have been left this way if done on an assembly line. I only know that it came from the estate in the condition that it now is in and that the paint has been on it for many, many years.I am no expert on doorstops and I do not want to mis-lead anyone, so if t is any doubt in any potential bidders mind, please do not bid. If t is any doubt in the mind of any person who already has placed a bid, please retract you bid.I feel that it is best to be honest with e-bayers and to build a good reputation with them. Trying to make sales by being dishonest will only put a quick end to all future sales. This would not be a good way to conduct any business nor would it be a good way to live a life.
