This is a "STEWART DOUBLE ARC CARBON LIGHT" MADE BY THE "CHICAGO FLEXIBLE SHAFT CO". This looks to be in pretty good condition, as you can see from the pictures, and it does light up. I found a piece of carbon rod in the bottom of the lamp and put it in the slot to get it to light. You may want to put new carbon rods in, I'm not sure if they should be in 2 pieces like I have them, but they will light. The CHICAGO FLEXIBLE SHAFT CO was founded in the early 1890's by JOHN K. STEWART and THOMAS J. CLARK. In 1946 the company became known as the SUNBEAM CORP. I do not know the year that this lamp was made; t is very little information on the internet.
