Collectors of both Neon signs and Breweriana LOOK at this sign. If you know of another let me know and I'll change my position, that it is most likely the only one in existence. All my research has only produced a short history that said Downs Beer and Ale was a small brewery in Buffalo, New York and a couple of bottles for sale . My guess it is circa 1940's. The sing works, measures approximately 23" x 21" x 21" and the red triangle is made of the rare vintage Ruby Glass. Manufactured by the Queen City Neon Company at 258 Broadway, Buffalo, New York, label is in excellent condition as are the wires coming off the electrodes. T is one condition issue and that is the connecting solid glass tube at the junction of the triangle is broke and I repaired it with epoxy, see picture! I am selling it without a transformer. I have never shipped neon so the buyer is most welcome to specify how they want it packed and shipped, The one photo shows how I have it mounted to cardboard, it is attached to the cardboard with wire at strategic locations, the styrofoam is mounted to the cardboard but not the neon to keep it from moving. it will then be sandwiched with another double cardboard, and then double boxed in bubble wrap.
