This Chest belonged to my grandparents and it's approximately 1930's or 40's. The lock is stamped Eagle Lock Co., Terryville CT. This company was established in 1833 and was the largest trunk and cabinet lock maker in the world at one time. It closed in 1954. I could find no key for the trunk. I can find no maker mark on the trunk itself. There are leather straps that go around most of the case. There is a compartment box inside which opens up to hold additional items. The suitcase is 30 x 17 x 23 overall.
Considering the age it's pretty good. There is a handle missing you can see in the picture. The leather straps are missing a section on each side and the leather overall is poor and could stand to be re-done. The latches and lock work great...I'm still looking for the key so if I find it I will update but I see them online for sale. This chest is clean and with a bit of work could even be a showpiece!
