VINTAGE EAPG MILLERSBURG OHIO STAR CLEAR GLASS OPEN COMPOTE Standing 9-1/2" tall, 5-3/4" in diameter at the top of the compote and 4-3/4 inches diamter at the base, this is the thickest glass I have ever seen measuring over 1/4" thick with a deep etched, three part mold Ohio Star pattern. The stem is panelled with a circumference of 3-1/2" of solid glass and measures 6" high. I am not an expert, but I do love glass and the history that goes along with older pieces. Millersburg was opened by John Fenton of the famous Fenton family in 1909 and for the next two years made beautiful clear glass and carnival glass pieces and dissolving in 1911 due to poor management. This compote is in very good shape considering how old it is. With the exception of some minimal scratches on the base from wear, all other perfections appear to be of a maunufacturing bases. No chips of cracks, one air bubble at the base and a few in the stem, inside the compote is a line that goes around the perimeter of the compote that can be seen and felt and surprisingly one off shoot of a fan under the star, which would not photograph is indented the wrong way. It is smooth to the touch and I hesitate calling it a chip, though this imperfection is noticeable. Starting price of this magnificent piece is $29.99 and shipping will be $10.95 to the 48 contiguous US read more
