Hi everybody! Gungirly's auctions have changed just a little bit so please read the fine print. I've started the summer off with a BANG & have LOTS of wonderful goodies to list! The SCARLET letter! .... The SCARLET Pimpernel! ...... and who could forget SCARLET O'hara! .... I've never known the word scarlet to be boring or un-noticed and the lucky lady who wins this early 1900s Czech glass necklace will be no exception. This old world beauty features deep scarlet red faceted blown beads, a large molded / pressed glass drop surrounded by tiny enamel leaves, flowers and teardrop shapes all set in the most lovely gilt filigree. although not marked this necklace is clearly Czech / Bohemia in origin. It dates to the early 1900's, Edwardian era and a pre-cursor to art deco. It measures 8 1/2" down each side or 17 1/2" from end to end (around), then measures 2 7/8" long from the top of the lavelier drop. The drop also measures 1 3/8" across. This striking necklace is in very good vintage condition with no damage. No chips or cracks, gilt is bright with no verdegris. The only thing I can find is that it appears to me that the red enamel teardrop shapes may have been touched up at some time .... nothing noticable or distracting .... and I could be wrong.... but I would rather be too picky then not picky enough.
