Description: This is a fantastic Art Deco 1920s souvenir spoon from Egypt. Made from 800 grade silver and decorated in fabulous vibrant enamel it shows the sphinx in the bowl of the spoon. The best bit though is the sarcophagus on the top of the handle. This actually opens on a hinge and inside is a tiny mummy (also enamelled) which is completely removeable. Size: The spoon measures 4" in length and the tiny mummy measures 16mm (5/8ths) in length. Condition: T are two chips to the enamel on the bowl of the spoon, one to the very tip (see last pic) and another w the handle joins the bowl (visible in pic 4). T is surface wear to the features of the sarcophagus and wear to the gilding on the spoon. Other than this though it is in very good condition with a lovely secure clasp on the sarcophagus. Markings: Marked on the back of the spoon "800" along with a makers mark which could possibly be a stylised "JT". Weight: It weighs approx. 9.2 grammes. This item will be packaged in a secondhand plastic jewellery box and a bubble envelope.
