Up for auction is a pre-war electricsteel lap guitar. As seen in the pictures, the case has seen better days. However, all of it is there, including the hinges. The lap guitar is in remarkable shape. All of the coating is intact, and the cloth cord is not unraveled. The only thing, other than the case falling apart, is that the knobs on the keys have crumbled. The serial number on back reads (X37865) the pick-up is a Humbuck B-4 Gibson Pat. # 4. I’m not sure of the maker of this vintage guitar, But after my research I believe it was made by Rex, I know the name Rex was owned by the Gretsch Co. & there low-end stuff most made by the Harmony Co., Regal & National/Supro/Valco The lap guitar is 28 3/4" long, 6 3/4" wide and weighs 4-lbs 2 ounces. After talking to a friend who is very knowledgeable in guitars and their history, I have also included his description (see below) of the instrument up for auction. Thank You “O.K., as far as "REX", in my old Gretsch catalogs ( & they are `33,`34,`35,`36,`49 7 `50) the name Rex is NOT in the 1940 nor 1950 catalogs, & in the `40 one the low-end Instr. are named "Waldorf" & I have in the 1950 cat. the same gtr but W/ vol. & tone knobs. NOW, as 4 the Hum-buck, in my 1952 Pennino Cat. in the "SUPRO" zone it sez of the P/U...."is a Twin-Coil Locked Power unit that is Hum-free" ! Look on e-baY for
