For Auction Is A Vintage Electrical Coin Operated Meter Box. It Is From Welcome Meter Co. Brand that was manufactured around late 1940's to Early 1950's. Original retail sales receipt-(This one was bought on 1954), and instructions is included with the unit.

It is a Rugged Steel box that separates into two pieces with shell and "clockworks" and relay. Operation is unit switches on with the insertion of a quarter and proceeds to operate for about 40 minutes. Switches 15 Amps at 120 VAC (1/3 horsepower mechanical equivalent; around 1250 Watts). The unit has two lag screw holes in the rear of the box.

Box is 6-1/4" high x 6-1/4" wide x 5" deep. Unit weighs about 8 lbs.

The unit has coin tray that removes with one of two keys included with the unit. The Wiring data plate is attached inside unit so loss of instructions is not a problem. The unit has some small rust on the back, but then it understandable considering its age. Hubby picked this up on yard sale 3years ago and hooked it up to our teens' computer because they always forget to turn it off. So, if they want to be on the PC more than 40minutes in the evening, they better have enough coins, and we have no more fingers pointing or debate on who left the computer on the whole
