This is a two piece Eley Bros. percussion cap tin. On the top is stamped "Eley Bro London". It retains the original brown lacquer. It is approximately 1 1/2" in diameter and 9/16" in height. It has some pitting on the top, but otherwise is in good condition for its age.Research indicates that Eley Bros. began operation in London in 1828. They added percussion caps to their products in 1837. Eley Bros. aligned itself with Samel Colt in about 1841. During the American Civil War, they were a major supplier of ammunition to the Confederate Army. NOTE: WE JUST NOTICED 3 VERY SMALL DINGS ON THE BOTTOM AT 12, 3 AND 9 O'CLOCK. SEE THE THIRD PICTURE JUST ADDED. Obviouslly, tfore if any current bidders wish to retract their bid(s) we will understand. We are VERY sorry for this oversight as we always attempt to describe our items in great detail noting all the positive and all the negative features.
