Vintage Elsa SCHIAPARELI Watermelon Tourmaline EARRINGS Signed BEAUTIFUL - NR! These majestic signed Elsa Schiaparelli clip-on earrings are huge, measuring 1 3/8" in diameter and weight over 31 grams! The amazing "watermelon" tourmaline stones are nearly intact and very vibrant in color. Overall condition is excellent true vintage with very, very gentle wear consistent with age which is 50 to 60 years. The stones are clear and thick, there is expected vintage foil loss to the back metal but the clips are great and close with a snap. Please see all photos for your personal assessment of quality and condition. Magnificent glamorous 'must have' earrings for any advanced vintage jewelry collection! Elsa Schiaparelli (1890–1973) was an Italian Fashion designer. She is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in fashion between the two World Wars, along with Coco Chanel, her greatest rival. Starting with knitwear, Schiaparelli's designs were heavily influenced by iconic surrealists like her collaborators Salvador Dali and Alberto Giacometti, and Dadaists Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray and are considered 'wearable art'. Her clients included the heiress Daisy Fellowes and actress Mae West. Schiaparelli's business closed in 1954. *** NOTE OF INTEREST : Schiaparelli’s exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art attracted over 80,000 visitors read more
