Today I have a Gilbert Erector set. This set is from 1959 and has a lot of pieces. The advertising on the lid of the box says it has 600 pieces. I believe this set has some extra pieces included. This is not a perfect set but looks very good. The metal box is 11 1/4" x 19 1/2" x 2". The box is in pretty good shape. The 2 lock clips on the front work great and look great.....these are a 10. The hinges on the side are also in teriffic shape! There is a rust spot up by the ERECTOR name. It doesn't go through, it's only surface. The area by the hinge on the left side is bent just very little. A couple of smacks with a towel and a rubber hammer would probably straighten it right out. On the inside there are a few surface rust spots. They have been this way for the few years I have had it. Included in this set is also the motor which does work. It is put together as I have pictured for you to see. I plugged it in and it took right off. There are two little cardboard containers with metal lids that say Erector Parts. One containers has the little metal pieces I have hanging on it in the picture. The other container has some type of a metal circular piece with wiring attached and it's heavy too. There is also wiring connected to what looks like a socket for a night light or small bulb?? There are a bunch of metal strip pieces. They range read more
