Up For Bid: A Very Unique and Neat Side By Side Drop Front Bureau Bookcase or Curio Cabinet from England. This doll fooled me pretty good at first. I thought is was a nice early 1930's or so cabinet. After getting it home and cleaning it up and cleaning the glass door, I found it had very wavy glass in the door. Also it has quite a few bubbles in the old wavy glass which would put this cabinet a lot closer to the turn of the century than the 1930's. The finish is still pretty good on the entire unit and it may have been refinished somew down the line. The handles, hinges and hardware appear to be the originals and are all in good working order. The lock works on the drop down desk, but not on the door. The shelves under the drop down door are fixed and are not removable. The shelves behind the wavy glass door are removable but not adjustable. The fretwork on the wavy glass door is all t and without any damage, which is quite unusual on a cabinet of this ones age. T is a piece of the fretwork or trim missing on the side of the bottom of the cabinet, but it's not very noticable. The beveled edge top is 41 3/4" X 12 3/8" and it's 48" tall. The cabinet body is 40 1/2" wide and 11 1/2" deep and it stands a stately 10 1/4" off the floor. The drop down desk is 18 1/4" X 14 3/4" and is 28" off the floor when opened. It has one drawer that'
