Vintage ERPHILA hot water pot with lid in SUSSEX Cheery Chintz, in very good condition . Sussex Cheery Chintz features deep pink and vivid blue flowers with dark gold, yellow and white flowers amidst green, pale blue and blue-grey leaves on a cream ground. Very pretty chintz! This footed hot water pot is about 8" tall (including the lid), and the top edges, handle and tip of the pointed finial are all decorated in gold. The base is marked with the "E R PHILA", "Sussex Cheery Chintz" and "Germany" stamps. I have no way to accurately date this vintage pot, other than to suggest "mid-20th century". T are no chips, cracks or scratches on this pot, and no crazing . T's a small nick or chip to the surface glaze on the underside of the lid (see pic 6), which of course has no effect on either the display value or function of the set. The gold edges and trim are fully intact, and the interior of the pot is entirely clean -- I doubt it was ever used. The Sussex chintz colors are bright and cheerful (no wonder it's called "Cheery Chintz"!), making this an interesting and decorative addition to a chintz display. FYI: You've probably noticed that Erphila sold many versions of "Cheery Chintz" (often misspelled on eBay as "Cherry Chintz"), most having English place names such as Warwick, Sussex and Dorset.
