Exceptional Columbian Emerald set in open-backed solid 14K White Gold. Unique, inspiring and delicate design are the hallmarks of this expertly crafted vintage piece. The White Gold perfectly sets off the deep green of the Emerald. I bought this at an estate sale and I do not know the definite age, but t is some very slight wear on the interior. I am just guessing, but it must have been made in the 1930's. The "14K" hallmark is visible but somewhat worn. I have had it tested and it is 14K Gold. Other than that, no major wear or blemishes on the outside. Whoever owned this before must have really liked to show it off and took very good care of it. The White Gold perfectly sets off the deep and intense green of the Emerald. The round expertly cut Emerald measures approximately 3/16 inch (4.76 mm) in diameter. The ring rides above the finger at 3/16 inch (4.76 mm) and the sides show the stunning and intricate craftsmanship as you can see from the close-up photos. The stone is approximately one-third carat in weight. The ring itself weighs 1.94 grams. It is a resizeable size 7. The Emerald itself is of very good quality. Some very minor inclusions are evident with a 10x loupe, but not visible to the naked eye and not near the top of the stone. No chipping, scratches or other blemishes. Please see close-up photos of stone. I have had this professionally cleaned and polished. Ultrasonic methods were not used for cleaning as this can ruin Emeralds because of the usual and accepted practice of using oils to fill in any minor inclusions.
