FAFNIR LAK Bench Grinder New Britain, Conn USA The main shaft, threaded end, is 5/8 in Diameter, with about a 4 1/2in. diameter stone that is worn from use. The threads and nut are in good condition. The shaft on the other end with pulley is about 7/8in diameter. It has two tags that read FAFNIR LAK #1 New Britain Conn. The two bearings have grease fittings and their housings have FAFNIR LAK stamped on them. It has two I-Beam mounts that are 7 in long and 1 1/2in wide and stand 4in high. They have 4 holes each for mounting bolts. Overall height of grinder is 7 in and total length across is 13 3/4in including the threads on the end of the shaft. We usually see an electric Maytag motor attached to these old belt driven grinders but hear that some people operate them with gas engines, either way just attach a 1/2 in belt to turn the shaft and you are in business!
