You are bidding on what I believe is an old faience plate, possibly quimper or desvres-I don't know. It measures 9 1/8" across and has a lovely cobalt blue design on the edge approximately 3/4" wide. The back of the plate has 2 holes for wall hanging. The front of the plate depicts a handpainted primitive peasant man carrying a pair of baskets containing purple fruit. Handwritten on the top of the plate is "Settembre" with a circular line border around the well of the plate.(Our picture shows a shadow at the top of the plate which is not in the plate, its just a reflection.) T is crazing on the front and back which is typical of old plates. T is a small flaked chip 3/8" long along the bottom edge in line with his left foot. It has been colored in to blend with the cobalt blue of the plate as the plate is white. You really don't see it. It does not detract from the beauty of this plate. T is no other damage. T are no identification marks. A very pretty plate. A lovely addition to your collection. (See our other listing of the Dicembre woman plate.)
