Vintage, antique wood graining tool with rubber grain and wooden handle, 3" x 3" x 3 1/4" high. Very good condition, no cracks or breaks, handle firmly attached, rubber graining layer is tightly attached and detail is still sharp. No manufactures marks or logos. Would guess this is from 1900-1920, almost 100 years old now. Nifty little tool for the early 1900s painter. Many homes would have cheaper wood pine doors, window and door molding in back rooms and second floor, to save on building expenses. But the wood would look like more expensive oak, walnut, or mahogany, using stains, glazes and this tool . You drag and rock it over fresh, wet glaze and voila! instant wood grain! If you're restoring a vintage house, or doing restoration work, you may have stripped an old door only to find that beautiful wood was all fake -- this is how you get it back. Thanks for looking, please ask questions.
