~ * ~ Vintage Sewing Cottage Shabby Collectibles ~ * ~ Cleaning out Grandma's Attic Before the Estate Sale Offered for your bidding consideration is an Antique * Vintage * Feedsack Quilt Comforter Made in the USA ! ~ * ~ This old quilt is made of cottons throughout ~ using many different feedsack fabrics to make a Flower Basket shape block. The Binding on the quilt is * trimmed * with a solid sweet & soft pastel pink, a matching cotton candy pink is the backing for the quilt as well. I am pretty sure this quilt was sewn on a vintage sewing machine, but t are places on the quilt that look like it might have been hand sewn. I can't take it apart to be sure, so I am assuming this quilt is machine sewn. It is hand quilted though ~ quilted in the ditch. And the quilting is.. good.. to Very Good but not fabulous ( I feel like such a critic, but all I do is hand quilting & this hand quilting is only .. good ~ very good, not anything to write home about ) . The quilt is Very Good Clean condition ~ no holes to speak of, some general wear, and I some small light stains & t, not many, and not knowing what they are, they may just wash right out with all the new cleaners we have these days that are so super to get these old stains out. T are a couple of whisper light rust speckled spots.. I haven't kept up on what you do to clean these rust like spots ~ but they are not terrible & may be cleaned as well. Just general wear, no fraying or worn out patches, but this quilt will need your tender loving care to restore it to its original splendor ! This Quilt is signed on the back corner, I can't read the writing so I don't recognize whose name this is ? Lois ?? ~ * ~ ~ * ~ I have three of these vintage quilts ( listed separately) with a similar butter cream used in each quilt, so I am guessing they were made around the same time, and , or, by the same quilter ~ I am not sure. These were found in the same steamer trunk in grandmother's attic; I am not sure if she made them or if they were given to her ? I just don't know the history of these quilts, listed separately ~ but all three quilts are fine vintage works of art. One of the quilts * Basket Quilt * is signed. It's not grandma's name on the quilt so I have to wonder who signed the quilt? Sounds like a mystery I read about in a quilt magazine about a woman who tracked down a group of quilters whose names were on a Friendship Quilt ..hmmmm ?? ~ * ~ ~ * ~ Please take a look at my other auctions for the other quilts in this collection, & for more unique items & handcrafted sewing collectibles!
