Vintage Fenton- Early Signature Period Piece- Unusual 6" White Hobnail Scalloped Basket Candy Dish This beautiful Fenton basket was part of my sweet 95 year old aunts estate. It was never used, just a pretty little eye catcher that sat for many, many years on a mahogany table in the her front sitting parlor. It was t for as long as I can remember and I am 50! What makes it so unique and rare is its size for a Fenton basket, the more widely, commonly produced baskets of the period were much larger and the base was also a different style. If you look at most of the baskets, the base is much larger in circumference and they stand much higher from that base. This smaller basket has the lower base and style more like that of a Fenton candy dish. It is much smaller and the basket is also much closer to the base and it stands only 6" tall and 6" across. It also has double scalloped or crimping to the design, which is also not as common and the handle has the signature Fenton markings. If you look underneath you will also notice the trademark Fenton Signature. Being a novice, I did some research on this basket and Fenton Glass and it was all very fascinating. My aunt left me so many old vintage things, that I needed to educate myself before I disgarded anything! I was going to keep this piece, but I am relocating, so I am only taking the read more
