Beautiful Vintage Fiesta Deep Plate in Near Mint Condition! Fiesta pottery is an American icon. The deep plate, also known as a rimmed soup bowl, was in production for approximately 33 years, from 1936 to 1969. Bowls were popular during the Depression because soup was a hearty, filling and inexpensive way to feed a family. The deep plate is stamped "GENUINE fiesta H-L-Co USA."Dimensions: 8 1/2 inch diameter by 1 1/2 inch thick. Excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, flakes, flea bites or hair lines. PLEASE NOTE: Any light spots in the photos are not in the glaze, but merely reflections from the flash or other lights. This deep plate has a beautiful, uniform, bright and shiny glaze! Guaranteed Homer Laughlin Fiestaware vintage red color (actually, a reddish orange). During World War II, the US government restricted the use of uranium oxide, which gave Fiesta red its color. This restriction was not lifted until 1959, so red usually commands a premium price in the secondary market, both for its vibrancy in the mix of colors and for its scarcity due to limited years of production.
