Vintage Fiesta Turquoise 8¼" Flat Rim Soup/Cereal Bowl DESCRIPTION This is a vintage Fiesta turquoise (robin's egg blue) 8¼" flat rimmed soup or cereal bowl or deep plate that has been in my collection for over 30 years. It is 1½" high. The reverse side has the three noticeable white firing pin marks that are characteristic of the older Fiesta pieces as well as the distinctive hand stamped Fiesta trademark of the Homer Laughlin Company. The bowl is marked "Genuine Fiesta H-L-CO USA ". Fiesta was instantly popular when it was introduced to the public at the annual Pottery and Glass Exhibit in Pittsburgh , PA in January 1936. For over a decade after that show, Fiesta was a widespread fad and became a status symbol of the late 1930s and pre-war 1940s middle-class household. Fiesta Turquoise was the sixth color added in 1938 to the five original Fiesta shades produced by the Homer Laughlin China Company of Newell , West Virginia . CONDITION The vintage Fiesta turquoise soup or cereal bowl is in excellent condition. T are no nicks, chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs of any kind. T are a few utensil light surface scratches or contact marks from past use, which is typical of vintage dinnerware. Please look at the photo(s) and e-mail me with any questions you may have.
