I brought this mat back from Fiji on my return from two years living in that lovely country. Unfortunately I did not use the mat as I intended and it has spent nearly forty years in stored in the back bedroom. The mat is made from the leaves of the pandanus tree, this particular type is called 'ibe vakula' in Fijian. Further details of how the mats are produced can be found on the following website: /?page_id=3692 The woven part of the mat is in very good condition unfortunately the woven wool fringing is deteriorating, that can be removed but it is why the starting price is low. The mat is approx 51 inches(130 cm) by 80 inches(203 cm). I am happy to post world wide but the mat should really be sent rolled or folded one way not two ways which can damage it. The length therefore is too long for Royal Mail standard airmail service. So if you would like this sent abroad please contact me for a international courier quotation.
