Vintage Fire King Mt Ararat Farm Guernsey Milk Dairy Farm Historic Mugs Wonderful pair of 1968 Fire King Anchor Hocking (marked) stackable D handle mugs. Front of mugs have Mt. Ararat Farms, 1968, Golden Guernsey Milks, Port Deposit, Maryland with a scenic farm graphic. These are as close to “mint” as I have seen. These are a small part of a wonderful historic story. This farm was owned and operated by: Dr. Joseph Irwin France who was a physician, statesman, political economist and agriculturist. Born in Missouri in 1873, he was descended from Joseph France, a native of St. Ives, Kimbolton , England . He earned an A.B. Degree from Hamilton College , Clinton , New York in 1895, and then completed a course in Physical Science at the University of Leipzig , on the Elihu Root Foreign Fellowship. He earned his M.D. from the College of Physicians & Surgeons. He started his medical career in Baltimore and from 1916 to 1917 was Secretary of the Medical & Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland . He was head of the Natural Science Department of Tome School for Boys in Port Deposit beginning in 1906. In 1908 he was Delegate to the Republican National Convention. The owner of Mt. Ararat Farm in Port Deposit, he brought the property under heavy cultivation and was a member of the Association of Cecil County Farmers and the American Guernsey Cattle
