These are a really great old pair of antique cast iron Hessian Soldier Andirons that were made around 1900. They still retain their original paint! They stand about 16 ½" tall and have a great old surface too. They also have their original firedog backs (log holders) which hold the figures upright even through the far back support bar is long gone. They are in very good condition, but one of the bolts that hold the dogs to the backs need to be replaced because it is stripped. Otherwise they are truly the best of this type that we have ever had.
