Welcome to ~FRENCH VINTAGE LINENS AND ANTIQUES~ W You Will Find Beautiful and Unusual Linens and Apparel from France ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Lovely French Linen Sheet with Crocheted Lace Inserts and Lavish Embroidery~ This is a lovely antique French linen (' fil ' in French) sheet which was made and found in France. The color is pure white. This sheet is remarkable for its numerous crocheted lace inserts and for the lavish amount of embroidery which consists of swags of dots across the entire length and along the the very long returns. T is also a lovely monogram worked in a diamond lozenge which reads SG. The overall effect of all this fine hand work is quite elegant. This beautiful sheet measures 89 inches by 128 inches long and t is no center seam. The returns (foldback) measures an exceptionally long 42 inches so t is a truly lavish amount of embroidery. This item is in Excellent vintage condition without stains, but it does have two small and barely noticable repairs at one side (see photos). These are near the edge so that they would be on the part of the sheet that hangs down at the side of the bed. ( Please see "Comments on the Condition of Items I Sell" below.) These sheets were generally made for the trousseau of a French bride, in the first half of the 20th cent., by her mother, grandmother or in some cases by convent nuns. In any case this is the work of a skilled and experienced French embroiderer/needlewoman. This lovely French vintage linen sheet would be a charming addition to any elegant bedroom. As with all the items we sell, this sheet will be delivered to you freshly laundered and ironed. FVL #0233 SHIPPING: I ship internationally by French Priority Airmail. Comments on the Condition of the items I sell: Virtually all the items I sell are "vintage" which means they have, in the majority of cases, been used, and are at least 50 to 75, and even more than 100 years old. Having said that, I do not sell items that are so used that they are obviously heavily worn, faded or too fragile to use. Almost all my items were made by hand in France during the first half of the last century--most would date from between 1890 and 1950, although it is quite difficult to be certain of an exact date in most cases. It would be quite unusual to find this kind of fine hand work in France after about 1960. Again because these items are Vintage they have, in the vast majority of cases, been used. However all the items I sell have been carefully selected and inspected when I purchase them for their Very Good to Superb vintage condition. Still it is inevitable that occasionally t may be a hardly noticable tiny pin dot stain or a tiny rend on any given item. I always carefully launder and iron my items and in doing so inspect them carefully for a second time. If I notice a small flaw on an item I put that in my description. It is my hope that my customers understand that I would not and do not sell items which are not clean or have evident large stains or tears. But please do understand that because the items I sell are Vintage, and usually are at lea...
