~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ French Ticking~*~ heaven! This is a wonderful Antique/Vintage French ticking, woven stripe fabric. This beautiful ticking is wonderful, like none I have seen. This ticking piece is a woven stripe with khaki and cream. I date this piece to around 1900. This ticking is produced with a lovely satinised cotton warp and a wonderful and quite rare to find fabric made from wood or cotton pulp known as Chardonnay Silk" ( In 1884, a French chemist, Hilaire de Charbonnet, Comte de Chardonnay, patented an artificial silk that was a cellulose-based fabric known as Chardonnay silk. Avtex Fibers Incorporated first commercially produced artificial silk (or as we know it today rayon in 1910 in the United States). The term "rayon" was first used in 1924. ) This ticking has the most wonderful bounce, it is just LOVELY~*~ This lovely piece measures 4 feet wide by 4.72 feet long ( 120cm wide by 144cm long)~ This piece has many holes scattered about in the piece. This piece is great for cutting projects and would be wonderful for a couple of smaller pillows and many many smaller projects that the holes can be cut around. ~*~* Freshly laundered and ready to use. ~ *~ Please see my other items for more textile treasures~*~ ~*~For weekly updates, please add me to you favourites list ~*~ ~*~Important information~
