Up for bid is a vintage high toppers axe. This axe was used to help top trees to use as spar poles and what happened was the tree was picked out, the climber would climb the tree with this type of axe & saw dangling down below him on ropes. At the top he would tie himself off and get to work! This axe which is a FULTON MERIT MARK measures 26 1/4" in total length. Fulton was a company started by Sears to make their own axes and was located in Chicago. The large head is 12" from bit to bit and those bits are about 3 1/4" wide. There are a few small chips on the bits. Total weight including rope and snap is 5# 11.6 oz's. The handle has a very rich colored brown patina . The 8' rope is woven/braided on around through the handle and then braided to a snap to attatch it to a climbing belt. This is as purchased from a store in Oregon, also check out some of my other auctions for a high toppers saw and others. These would make fine additions to a logging collection. Good luck bidding! I will combine shipping with compatible items. Please check out my other items I have on auction right now for other interesting collectibles! I am not shipping this item internationally.
