VINTAGE GENERAL ELECTRIC WORLD TRANSISTOR RADIO ca. 1960 Up for sale is a Vintage General Electric World Monitor Transistor Radio. It is model P2900A A/C battery- powered portable radio. It is 14 inches long, 6 inches wide, and 10 inches tall. It has front plastic doors with a center stitched-leattte carrying handle. T are dual telescopic antennas and 5 different bands - FM, MARINE, SHORT WAVE, BROADCAST and LONGWAVE. It also has bass and treble adjustments and maps on the inside of the front doors - see photos. T is a tuning meter and a dial light. On the back, t is a place for earphones and an external FM antenna hook-up, shortwave antenna hook-up and a ground terminal. This neat radio was purchased at an antique mall in Olympia, Wa. It works well on both battery and AC power and is extra clean, with no rust, corrosion, or pitting of any kind. The handle has some surface cracking - see photo - and the previous owner has used an electric pencil to engrave his name and social security number above the dial. (You can see it in the photo above the push buttons on the top right...it is quite small.) T is also some very light scuffing on the plate on the front. None of this detracts from this awesome radio. This World Monitor was General Electric's answer to the Zenith TransOceanic. It would be a great addition to a radio collection. Note: Please be advised that this vintage radio weighs 15 pounds before packing for shipping. That is why the shipping weight is 20 lbs. We want to pack it well so it arrives in perfect condition.
