Vintage German Alps Gesetzlich Geschutzt Beer Stein You are bidding on this one of a kind, best I ever saw, non Mettlach stein! Dimensions approximately 8-1/2 inches tall, 4-1/2 inches at bottom, 3-1/4 inches at the opening. Pewter top and thumb lid. The handle replicates a forest tree and the scene that continues all around the stein depicts mountain climbers, Alps chateaus, cows, forest glens, a hunter, a hiker. All around the top of the stein are ten figures with hair that appears to be snow capped mountains. Look at the pics closely and ask any questions you like early on. The above scene that I have described is mint; it appears to be painted, glazed and fired. T are no cracks, chips, dings, etc. It is in need of a good bath. For whatever reason, the blue border around the top and the rust border around the bottom does have minor paint loss. I can't explain it; my guess is that somebody painted it to fit in with a decorative motif that they wanted. Also possible that those two parts of the stein were not glazed and added after the original art work. It's your decision; in no way does it detract from the value of this extremely rare stein. If you find this objectionable, please do not bid. Again, your decision; I only mention this for accuracy. Estate item; no reserve. BASIC TERMS & CONDITIONS1.
