These tiny wooden bird push pins usually sit on top of the thick felt disk like birds on a nest, but I just found these that were sold in an unusual "around the disk" formation. You can tell this is the original position of the pins because there are no holes in the flat sides of the felt disk. They would look adorable on a bulletin board if you can bear to take them off their nest of thick brown felt. None of the birds have been removed from the felt, except the few I removed for the photo and I was very careful to get those back into the original holes. They are about 7/8 inch long from the tip of their beaks to the end of their tails. The dozen tiny birds, four each of three colors, are in excellent condition. They are shiny and the paint is unclipped. I found them in a gift shop in my neighborhood. The original shop owners would purchase Erzgbirge items in Germany to sell in their store. The shop was liquidating the remaining stock. This one does not have a tag but another nest had a tag that read. "Expertic, made in the German Democratic Republic." This means they were made before the fall of the Berlin wall. They are 30 or 40 years old, but I purchased them new from the shop last year. Multiple items ship for the same price as shipping one.
