These are the very collectible CHIEF OF POLICE dog bookends, showing that most alert and guarding dog, the german shepherd. These are cast iron, with a gilded copper bronze finish, and stand 6 and a half inches tall and weigh almost 5 pounds the pair. They say Chief of Police clearly across the base and the dog also wears a military type harness with a star or sheriff's badge in the middle of his chest. These are circa 1935 and art deco in origin and style. They are guaranteed old, genuine and original. They are in good condition with a little surface rust but not damage at all. These were created and given out to honor dogs either killed or injured in the line of duty as police dogs and/or to honor retiring dogs or dogs who showed exceptional heroism.
