This auction is for a vintage (1930s-1950s) H. Gerstner & Sons of Dayton, Ohio, Traveling Dental Case plus the contents. It has 10 drawers with 3 folding trays on top. It is in good condition with typical scuffs and scratches, the bottom leatherette is starting to peal along the edges and several of the drawers have stains from various liquids and compounds. The front of the drawers are oak and the bottoms are painted metal (enamel?). I have the keys to the case, but the lock mechanism won't quite engage fully. I did not want to force it and break a key. With the latches latched, it's very solid and not going to open. The contents are a mixture of dentals tools and accessories, including a small glass mortar and pestal, picks, spoons, empty bottle of Metaphen, alligator clips, mirrors, display teeth, Vibroflex dental cord, etc. The rectangular glass thermometer(?) is heavily chipped on the bottom, with two corners completely chipped off. The dentist's (doctor) nameplate is under the sturdy handle. Please see my pictures. This would make an outstanding addition to your collection! ==Not pictured, but just added are 1 empty 5 Oz. glass bottle that had contained L.D. Caulk Co. 20th Century Regular Alloy and 1 small spool of gold-toned dental wire. I had the wire checked and there is some small amount of gold in the wire, but not enough read more
