The Gibson, 1927 L1, Adirondack spruce over Maple factory order number - 8406 The guitar is all original except for the replacement unbleached bone saddle. The original saddle and spare set of Ebony pins are in the case together with a Mammoth Ivory compensated saddle. There are a few scuffs and scratches but no structural or major cosmetic issues. Some finish loss where a decal of the period was placed on the top but later removed. The neck, back and sides are very clean. Construction – solid Adirondack spruce top, solid Maple back and sides, ladder ‘A’ frame style bracing, Ebony bridge, original Bakelite bridge pins, Ebony nut and dovetail neck joint, thin C profile neck without truss rod, pearl type dots and celluloid bindings, Waverley three on a plate tuners. Work carried out – numerous crack repairs and new binding to back, re-glue loose braces, neck reset, remove excess ‘belly’ from top and correct bridge rotation with JLD Bridge Doctor. Remove and clean tuners, stone, profile and polish the frets, replace original ‘loose fitting’ bone saddle with new unbleached bone saddle. Back and sides re-finished with nitrocellulose and neck re-finished with Tru Oil. Spruce top and headstock veneer have been left with the original finish.
